When I saw this, my stomach did a flip-flop. It boggles my mind....and this is the description the seller gives:

    Well, he didn't lie. He never said how deep the scratches were.

    I hear ya Bugs! My grandma gave me a lagre cent and a 2 cent piece many moons ago. They were in, and still are today, almost perfect condition except for the frikin' machine punch marks X 3 on each coin. Either my grandfather or some other knucklehead must've had idle time on their hands and destroyed these things of beauty. I still get sick when i look at them. Today they be worth some BIG BUCKS!...image

    Now WE wouldn't do something like that TODAY, would we? We are always defacing our coins by setting pennies on railroad tracks, shrinking them "electromagnetically" (see yesterday's thread), putting pennies in those elongating machines, and so on.

    Really Bugs,
    If you're going to be a coin collector, you have to develope a tougher skin.
    These atrosities happen every day and there's nothing we can to about it.
    Unfortunately, like abused puppies and children, this coin needs a home but
    it will always be a problem.
    My advice, leave it to someone who doesn't mind trouble.
