I just recieved a call back from a dealer friend of mine who is set up at the show. He said the crowd up to this point has not been large, but there are have been plenty of buyers willing to spend the money for the right material. He has done quite well so far with seated dimes and quarters, including a nice 71-cc dime. He also moved two middle grade 93-s dollars at a very strong price. He sold some other key date material including a Vg 01-s quarter for 5,500.00.
Thanks for the info. I lived in St. Louis myself for about 10 years, so I know the area well. I wanted to go, as I love silver dollars, but was unable. St. Louis has one of the strongest coin collecting communities in the country, and has frequent shows both downtown and at the Henry VIII Inn near the airport.
The show appears to be at least somewhat subdued, as it was last year. There has not been much public attendance, to this point, at least. And, some major dealers who attend most of the major shows are not here, probably due to the Stack's sale in N.Y.C.
However, we have still managed to sell approximately one of the three double row boxes of coins we brought here.
Among the items we sold were: an NGC MS66 Arrows & Rays half dollar, a PCGS MS64 High Relief, a number of MS and Proof type coins in the $500 to $3000 range and a good number of Silver Commemoratives and Morgan Dollars. Most of the sales were to dealers, at very healthy prices.
It has been quite a bit tougher to buy, than sell, the type of material we deal in, but, we have still managed to pick up some goodies, here and there.
We submitted small quantities of coins to both NGC and PCGS for ourselves and a few clients - the grading was very fair / accurate, overall, in my opinion. That said, at almost any show, you will receive conflicting reports on grading, as each person has his own expectations, dreams, circumstances and objectivity (or lack thereof) that affect perceptions of grading.
Well, I live in the suburbs of St. Louis and I'm only a 20 min. drive from the show. Was planning on going Thurs. but had car trouble. It was very disappointing. Don't think Fri. will work, but there's a chance I can get a couple of hours Sat. to check it out.

I won't be able to make it this year.
