I hope I'm wrong (I'm definately not an expert on this series) but the surfaces don't look right to me. My guess is that this went through a cleaning and subsequently retoned in an odd way. With that in mind, I'd have to say body bag.

If I'm wrong, then I'd estimate it to be an AU-50/55. I notice that there appears to be some rub in the shoulder curls, the coronet and the curl to the left of the ear. Also, several of the denticles show wear and/or dings. On the reverse, the denticles seem to be the only area of concern (besides the affore mentioned surface/color issue). Also, note that the weak strike is fairly common with these.

I personally like the die break found on both sides of this coin; it gives it character imho. I like this coin. If I wrong on the bodybag issue and close on the grading, you seem to have picked up a good deal. If you're happy with the coin, then the rest of this doesn't matter.

I'm looking forward to see what the experts have to say.

Cleaned. A body bag from PCGS or NGC or a "net" grade from ANACS. The description (or in this case, lack of it) is a dead give-away.
    All glory is fleeting.
  • I'm no expert but I'd guess MS60/61 if it weren't cleaned. Might just be the scan though...image

I've bought a lot of large cents on Ebay, and very few of the scans/pics are true to color with the coin in hand. The blockiness of the color difference on the obverse would be my concern, and there again it could be caused by a flash. I think that you'll have to withhold final judgement until you get it.
    "Have a nice day!"
  • Looks Recolored, I would think XF/AU rub on the top of the headress near the L in liberty and the curls on the hair look to have some rub. The reverse looks a little weak on the ribbon. May be the variety (soft strike) don't have my references handy.

Still thou, a nice looking copper

Maybe AU50 for sharpness, but it has been cleaned and retoned. My guess is it would net grade (value) as a VF30 or so at best, Average minus condition.

ANACS might slab and net grade it, but I feel NGC and PCGS would put in a little polybag for you and thank you for the $16.

Thank You Evilmct, that's exactly why I bought it.
