Numismatic Advisory Newsletters

From time-to-time advertisements for so-called Advisory Letters appear in numismatic publications. Has anyone ever subscribed to one of these newsletters? Are they of any value? Are they all geared to investment advice only? Thanks.

Of the ones I am familiar with, I think the best is the Rosen Numismatic Advisory, written by Maurice Rosen. I have known Maurice for approximately 20 years and believe him to be a straight shooter who offers well-thought-out / practical / sensible advice.

It is published approximately 6-8 times per year and the cost is $48. You can call Mr. Rosen at (516) 433-5800 or write to him at :

I've subscribed to Maurice's newsletter on and off since the early 1980's. No hype like nearly all the others and worth every penny. For the experienced and/or newbie in the hobby it is a valuable tool. I know of no others that are worth the money. Bruce Amspacher used to put out a decent one. Maurice called the run in Washington Quarters long before it happened. He also was very timely in Oct or Nov 2001 getting his readers thinking about a gold move. It came in late December.
