    Wait--I think I see signs of tooling.. Yes--there! Half the normal BIFURCATED ridge was cleverly removed, and a walnut paste used to construct two additional ridges, resulting in what appears to be a rare TRIFURCATED walnut. These are readily available in magicians shops, and can be found on e-bay for a few bucks.

    actually.....upon closer examination, it appears that this tasty morsel may have been artificially toned as well.....these nut scammers are getting better all the time!

    Artificial toning? The red stuff? That's a rare and valuable counterstamp (or, part of one, anyway). It only adds to the provenance and mystique of this unique piece.
