Hey SM1 -

There was nothing in mikeschmidts thread that warranted you pulling it. If you can't tell the difference between what is acceptable and what isn't ... maybe we need a moderator that can. Lastly, we also don't need our moderator to give away all of the "cult secrets" to MW image

  • I have noticed that the threads on this board and the Sports Card and Memorabilia board are becoming more and more about general sports are starting to outweigh the posts about this hobby. Maybe SM1 could spend more time yanking those threads. There must have been 6 threads yesterday about JoeStalin and the Bucs losing on Monday night football. At one point there was not one thread about Sports CARDS. on the front page.

SM1 please start yanking those junk threads and maybe people will once again talk about the hobby. Or better yet, start a general sports forum.

    Alan:

Yes -- it seems very interesting to me that the thread was pulled. I basically just copied and pasted something MW said on a public forum. I offered very little, if any, editorial content on what he said. I just posted the fact that he said that.

On another interesting side note -- I have now been implicated on the SGC boards as the person who allegedly sent the alleged threatening letter to MW, with the implicit understanding that I have orchestrated numerous other underhanded things in the past.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

That's ok, they (PSA) also deleted the threads referencing the SGC to PSA crossover post over on the SGC board. I was about to link to it here, but it's now gone.

Guess what, PSA? That just cost you a Platinum Membership package, since I was about to re-up for 2 more years. That's $179 to start with, plus the submission fees that I would have been paying to get my cards graded. What PSA fails to realize is that when they use heavy-handed tactics like this, they prove their critics right.

I would also like to understand exactly what was so offensive that warranted the deletion.

  • Time out folks!

As it so happens, I deleted the wrong thread on the wrong board. The dangers of using a laptop with a tricky touchpad.

Man, everyone is a bit testy this morning!

What about moving those non-sportscards/mem threads to the open forum as suggested many times. I even ran a poll a month or so ago with substantial support. I can start a new one if needed. It seems that this is what most people want. What do ya say??

  • As I write this 12 of the 20 topics on front page of the S C & M forum are general in nature. They have little or no impact on the hobby. One post over there has to do with some guy and a stabbing incident...(I didn't even bother to read the whole thing)

I concur...move to the open forum
  • I think that it would be a great idea to have a non sportscard/memorabilia but sports related board. It would certainly eliminate the "quaility" threads that have been clogging the boards as of late. I'll run it by the powers and see what could be arranged. Posting these type of threads to the open forum would only clog the political discussions etc. and cause a riot over there.

I think if you want to build a "community" then adding a new section would be well advised. People like coming to these boards because they are easy to use and many have made "peeps" here.

I'd like to see a general sports forum.
  • Yeah, I need a place to cheer for my Sox!!
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
  • I put the request in this morning and hopefully, the powers will see the wisdom in this.
