Secret sets outed - (Too much time on my hands...)

Just for fun, spite and the fact that people that hide the contents of their registered sets bug me, I figured out the composition of the #1 and #2 Maravich Basic Sets. I'm posting them here with hopes that it aggravates the owners into realizing that they are defenseless against superior mathematical powers. Excel is a wonderful thing! image

#1 - Bryant Maravich Collection:

1970 Topps 123 - 9
1971 Topps 55 - 10
1972 Topps 5 - 9
1973 Topps 130 - 9
1974 Topps 10 - 10
1975 Topps 75 - 10
1976 Topps 60 - 9
1977 Topps 20 - 9
1978 Topps 80 - 8
1979 Topps 60 - 8
1980 Topps MFJ - 9

#2 - Museum of Sports History

1970 Topps 123 - 9
1971 Topps 55 - 9
1972 Topps 5 - 8
1973 Topps 130 - 9
1974 Topps 10 - 8
1975 Topps 75 - 9
1976 Topps 60 - 9
1977 Topps 20 - 8
1978 Topps 80 - 9
1979 Topps 60 - 9
1980 Topps MFJ - 9

Small sets (and populations) with wide swings in weightings make it easy. Hope they enjoy being "outed." So there.
Always looking for PSA 9 or 10 Pete Maravich cards!

  • LOL Pinch,
It too confuses me why they hid their sets. Nice work there.
  • Good!!

Those collectors arbitrarily close all of there sets to viewing. They seem to be using the registry to track their collections and not as a way to share their collections with other collectors. I can see closing some sets at certian time but to close all sets arbitrarily makes no sense. They even have their all PSA 10 sets closed! The set registry should be used as a way to share your collection with other collectors and not as a free collection tracking software.

I may be off here, but I don't think you have actually achieved your goal. There are other combinations that achieve the same results of GPA.

    One example for the #1 set is;

    1970 Topps 123 - 9
    1971 Topps 55 - 9
    1972 Topps 5 - 9
    1973 Topps 130 - 9
    1974 Topps 10 - 10
    1975 Topps 75 - 10
    1976 Topps 60 - 10
    1977 Topps 20 - 9
    1978 Topps 80 - 9
    1979 Topps 60 - 9
    1980 Topps MFJ - 8

Of couse if you know where the only 76 10 resides and it is not in this set I would have to do some more looking. I stopped after finding one. However, there are many possibilities on the #2 set.

    Looking for 77 cloth 9s and 10s.
    54 Red Hearts
    and now 64 Stand ups
  • What I didn't say is that I've been watching their eBay activity - after having lost to them on several occasions - to try to see their bidding tendencies, thus giving me the info I needed to know when they were revising their sets with new wins. In other words, I know what they added to their sets. You are correct, however, in that their are a few more permutations of the set that could result in the same rating.

By the way, their "bidding tendencies" are to snipe with OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH bids - outrageous defined as more than I can possibly afford. image

Now I've been reduced to opening wax packs in search of the elusive Maravich 9's I need to reach my goal.
