Out of my league, too. I guess I could sell off half of my set, buy one of those cards, and start over again. It's too bad that Mint State doesn't just start the bidding at 55 cents and let it ride, allowing us bystanders to sit back and watch the fireworks. Those are incredible cards, but I don't think either card will get a legit offer at those starting bids. There might be a couple AA collectors out there crazy enough to buy the Lujack for around $3,000 - $3,500. The O'Rourke might sell for $2,500.
guessing that it will take 3 posts for someone to say they think the corners look soft on the Lujack,
Does anyone find it offensive (to an extent) that they admit to having it graded a 9 by PSA, cracked and graded 96 by SGC, then given back to PSA for a 9? Well, at least they're honest.
Baseball Card Heaven, the closest card shop to the Las Vegas Strip.
Not really. I don't know if Mint State tried to do the crossing over, or if the person for whom they are consigning the card tried to cross over, but one thing's for sure (and this is probably why they're being so honest) -- it's definitely a mint card. It also clears up the fact that only one graded mint O'Rourke exists, not 3 as pop reports might suggest.
am i the only one who thinks mint state's prices are outrageous???? i don't think they believe in looking for less than 3X smr for anything....irony is people pay it.
I thought the same thing about a year ago..But lately, with the way things have been on ebay, his prices arent all that bad..lol

I wondered the same thing. In his defense, he is one of the most personable dealers out there. I don't know pricing that well on vintage football but that was my reaction also.
RICK is 1 of best dealers out there.you must rember also that alot of his cards are consigned and he has turn a profit. if you dont like prices theres always someone who does. And to answer the question of the crossovers i understand it this way. Many of the 55,s he has now were once psa graded they were crossed to sgc by the consigner.Rick crossed them back to psa to get better resell since he is a psa man and most of his buyers prefer psa.The cards that are still in sgc holders psa would not cross back in same grade this time around. Im sure they were old psa grades and we all know they are much tougher now.Bottom line Rick is 1 of the top deals nationwide and #1 when it comes to football. On a side note dav is correct Rick will work with you on prices if he can but again if a consigner wants a price not much he can do.
Looks like we actually have a legit bid on the O'Rourke card. I guess I was wrong about the limit for this card being only $2,500, but I'm also glad that this set has the ability to fetch $5K for a low pop PSA 9 (the grade weight of "1" seems a little low for this card, to say the least).
The high bidder currently has the #7 set on the AA list -- this card, should he win the auction, will be a nice replacement for the 8OC that currently resides in his incredible set (at 99% with all 8's, except for the O'Rourke).
bumming that the Cubbies lost (The Bosox BETTER make it!!), Chuck
Well this auction has me baffled. a common 9 for $5k??? granted i shreak when i see a common sell for $800. but i'll never understand how a 55 aa common can cost as much as a '35 national chicle nagurski. i guess if money's no object, the argument is moot.
