we have got to get you a new scanner. Do you tilt the coins a little? Does your scanner have a contrast control?

I lay(lie?) the coins flat on it.

Theres a contrast thingy, and a brightness one, and a saturation one (whoa....saturation is cool! i can pretend i'm bondman!!).

Any advise?

tilt the coin on the top edge by putting something about 2/3 as think as a slab under the top edge. Also tone waaaaaay down on the contrast and brightness
