Hey Gang:
I wanted to post this out on the forum and get the pros and cons of what you guys think.
Recently, with the sale of another collection and the deep pockets of others winning out. It looks like soon I will probably be dropping to #3 in the 1955 AA FB set registry. To say the least, I am not taking this very well.
With that being said. I have been thinking about it for a while now anyhow. Selling that is.
Any opinions, ideas, suggestions? Naturally, I would love to keep the thing whole and sell it as a set.
If anyone wants to email me offline here is my email address, or just post something here.

Thanks
Rob Ruth

You seem like you love the set. I would not worry about others passing you--yours is an awesome vintage set and is a great accomplishment in its own right. Hang in there and at least wait a while to reflect on it and do not do something you will regret later.

Thanks for your kind words. I do have to sit back and decide what I want/need to do.
It is a long process.
Thanks again.

keep the set, you just can't compete with some guys they have the cash and wherewithall to buy top of the line cards, and that's good for them. i on the other hand don't have that capital to do that so i settle for just finishing the set then upgrading, at this point i'm 71% done and am having a hard time staying in the top 20, but so what i want to finish the set, i like the set, and i know i'll never be up there in the top 5. i like the cards and am very happy i started it, however i had to scale back i wanted all 7 and 8 but realized that won't happen, i also enjoy the hunt for the cards.
so take it from some one who will never see the top 10 let a lone top 3 there no shame in finishing this set at all let a lone in top 5 fanshion.
if you have any 5-6-7 lying around let me know i would be interested
good luck with what ever you decide

collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
No, I did not shop it around at the National. I have never really shopped it around at all yet.
The set that I was considering selling at the National was the 1949 Bowman BB set that I am working on. I have a very attractive offer, but ended up turning it down. I want to seriously take a chance at finishing that one off. There if I ever get it done, I will probably end up being #3 or 4. Behind, Mr Merkel & Fogel. There is some nice company to be behind. As soon as I finish it thought, it will be going on the auction block. It is called a house down payment
Thanks Jay. It was great finally getting a chance to meet you at the National.

P.S. Fred, I actually picked up a couple PSA-8's on EBAY recently at very nice prices. They were a Peabody #72 & Alexander #41. If anyone would have any nterest in those, please let me know.
Look at it this way. If there was no registry, this line of thinking wouldn't even come into play.
Good Luck and happy collecting.

YOUR SET!!!" Take it from a collector who's currently at #14 on the
list and has no chance of breaking the top 5 -- you've got one of the
best '55 All-American sets assembled, and it's one of the most highly
collected and competitive football sets to build, if not the most
popular. Joe Verno has the #1 set & another that will soon be #2, and
you have #3 locked up. Much like Merkel & Fogel, being up there with
Verno is pretty good company. It might be fun to use the Set Registry
for a little competition, but worrying about being #1 or #2 isn't what
collecting is about. It's about getting enjoyment out of your collection.
Do yourself a favor. Pull out a few of your AA cards and look at them.
See the beauty in the simple design, the colors, the way the super im-
posed player practically jumps out at you from the black & white back-
ground. Read the backs. Corny as they may be, they describe some of
the best players to ever touch a football. Notice how little the
difference is between a PSA 9 and a PSA 8.
If you ever DO find yourself crazy enough to sell your AA set, at least
follow these two rules:
1. Sell individually to realize the best return.
2. Before you sell one card to anybody else, sell me all the cards I
need for my set at SMR!
sincerely,
Chuck
Thanks as well, for chiming in. For now, I think I am going to take everyones advice and keep the set.
As for breaking it up. Chuck, even if I did so I am sorry to say that you would not be allow to buy any of the cards.
YOU HAVE A MICHIGAN BANNER ON YOUR POSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now maybe if you made a post once in a while with the Blue & White I would consider differently
