well if you payed 400 then thats a bit crazy....... 315 was paid for the box and i`m getting 2 sweet cards of the player that i collect so how could that be a bad box?

you have way to much hate going on man, lol i think you need to switch to boxers or something... will ease the stress if your life seems to be in a pinch

Well thanks a lot for trying to ruin our box break. You know if you are so against the products, then write the companies and complain to them! You can't go back to how it used to be years ago, things change. The Ultimate products seem to be selling very well, and there is a demand for them on ebay, so somebody likes them! As someone else mentioned on a previous post, collecting cards can be compared to going to Las Vegas and gambling. You set a limit on what you are willing to lose, and hope to hit it big. If you don't want to lose, then don't take the chance! We are happy with the box, and that's all that matters. As far as these cards comparing to other Marinos, whose to say that they won't be just as valuable to him 10 years from now? He is in collecting for the meaning of the cards, and maybe these cards mean more to him then some of the other ones because I pulled them for him. Like I said before, just think before you tear people's box pulls to shreds....

well nothing wrong with what you think about the matters in card collecting in the present day...... but.... you could have brought this up to everyone in a post of your own and not Joyces and my post. we were and still are happy with our pulls and just felt like sharing what we pulled with everyone else.

glad you two are happy w/your box q and duncangal- that's all that matters in my view- regardless of what you paid for it. as for the card companies quibbling to call sports collecting 'gambling,' that's a purely political move which is totally understandable...i.e., to call it gambling, you'd have to impose age limits, severely cutting into the market share and depriving millions of youngsters from buying boxes/packs. i think that would be a shame personally since i know that card collecting's been something (and is one of the few things) i began enjoying in my childhood that i can and still do enjoy now.

whether i pay $10 for a box or $300, i do NOT expect anything- other than high quality cards- i.e., no miscuts (ideally), no cracked cards, etc. anyone who opened packs in the "vintage" days (or even the not so vintage days of the '80s) knows that often times cards were horribly cut. if you're cracking boxes EXPECTING the card companies to "give you something" like a high $$$$$ auto EACH time, you're cracking boxes for the WRONG reason. as someone who goes to vegas far more often than i care to admit, i do NOT expect to "win" each time...nor do i exepct the casinos to "comp" me flights, meals, shows, rooms, etc. (though they usually do). i go to vegas for the same reason i open boxes- b/c i enjoy the experience. sometimes i "lose" (though it's not really a 'loss' in my book if i've had a great time- which i always do), sometimes i "win."

lately, i've had boxes that have been less than desirable in terms of yielding "high $" cards. however, lately, more of these boxes have yielded base/inserts of the few players i collect. that, combined w/the experience of opening the packs (though i do miss the wax packs- and the gum lol), is more than enough satisfacton/"payout" for me.

nothing in life gives you a guaranteed return- i.e., stock market, gambling, love, "new" cars, any other investment, etc. there are numerous boxes that DO give you a guaranteed return- i.e., SPA and nearly every box i can think of. those guarantees did NOT exist in the 'old' days, and personally i feel like they take away from the 'full' collecting experience since it seems like most people rip packs now simply looking for that 1 auto, gu'ed, #d. in my day (i'm aging myself here lol), i opened each pack w/o expectation- other than for the gum of course. the 'thrill' of opening the packs back then (and still is- for me) is to read up on new/upcoming rookies, to ideally get cards of veterans i grew up watching (like roger clemens, palmeiro, maddux), and to possibly get cards of players i never got to grow up watching (i.e., honus wagner, babe ruth, mickey mantle, etc...though i personally abhor the companies cutting up their jerseys and would rather see reprints of their rcs).
