I hate It When I'm A Moron

I think I now own two 1975 Topps PSA 9 Brooks Robinson cards because I didn't mark my checklist properly.

Look at it this way, 2 Brooks Robinson 9's are better then one or zero image...jay

Now you've made me feel really stupid, as I've done that so often that I'm a little stunned you felt it post-worthy.

I always quickly tell myself that now I have one for the collection, and one to re-sell for a nice profit.

Believe me, this isn't the first time. I was just ticked at myself.
  • dAVID couple of the cards I got from you I discovered I already had in my set, but hadn't recorded any where now if I could just do that bank depositsimage

I've done that a few times- I refer to it as "share averaging". Plus when I sell one I point out to the old ball and chain how wise my card investments are image

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • I hope you are marking those checklists with disappearing ink to keep them mint.image

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

They're still mint. I've resealed them in their holders.

I hate when I do that. The only positive is I have the opportunity to select the stronger of the two for my collection. It's doubly painful when I can't decide which card is better. image
  • Gemint - As I ws sympathetically reading Vargha's post (cause like everyone I've done this myself) my response was the same. In looking for any upside at all you at least get to choose the better of the two. If thy are that close to equal I would probably lean to the more recetly graded and leave it at that.
Vargha - At least it was Brooks Robinson and not Hubie Brooks!!

You guys are not alone. I've done this so many times. For some reason, the 1975 set has been a problem for me to keep track of as well. When I was first getting in to the set, I won 3 - #370 Tom Seaver PSA 8s within a week. I ended up selling two of them at a nice loss - my snipes were strong! image Within the last month, I have added 2 more PSA 8 duplicate commons to my '75 set as well. image

David> I do that a lot and always feel stupid when I do. But at the same time, it allows me to pick the better of the two (or more) cards to keep for my set.

  • David,
Still sounds as if your organization skills are high as this happens at my house with an embarrasing frequency. May I suggest, starting a second set ? It is a good place to start from.
