Fascinating Auction......Where Do I Start?

First, this seller with Private Feedback and a Private Auction uses PSA in the auction title for a card that is graded by Pro Gold. I can't say I've ever heard of Pro Gold. Is Pro Gold a premium service of Pro? If not who'd ever thought that someone would exploit the hallowed name of Pro Grading to hype up the value of their knock-off mechandise?

But here's the kicker. The seller writes:

Most of my auctions and my feedback are private due to so many bottom feeding eBay members who contact bidders to try and sell their items off of eBay. I will not tolerate that or anything else. My feedback is 100% positive. I have nothing to hide from legitimate eBay members, but I do from the eBay scum. I try to be as professional as possible and take great pride in my eBay auctions and I try to operate just like the big auction houses.

Sure, I'm certain there are dozens of even scummier dealers trying to hijack his auctions with their discounted Pro Gold Mantle 10's.

Lastly, is it me or does there seem to be a lot of excess "elbow room" in this holder?

Unbelievable!! The '65 Mantle is so trimmed there are almost no white borders! Is there a poor sucker out there who dares to buy his cards?

  • there's NO plausible reason for any seller w/100% feedback to hide it- unless of course, the 100% was obtained by having a "friend" bid on the seller's auctions. I have over 150 positive feedbacks on ebay and while I sometimes get people asking me to sell items offline/end an auction early, I refuse to do so- but that's not a reason to hide my feedback. not to mention the 'pro gold' holder looks like a modified version of a traditional screwdown holder w/a label that could've been printed off a home printer. also, the serial # is only 6 digits- i'm not familiar w/how non-BGS/non-PSA companies do their serial #s, but I'm pretty sure they're more than 6 digits.

and the 65 mantle? snip snip snip

  • Classic, but those are not screws as I wince my eyes they can't be pop rivets can they?image
  • haha yes they did look like pop rivets but given that it's pro GOLD, i thought i'd give the seller some benefit of the doubt and compare it to a screwdown holder image this auction reminds me of the numerous 'psa has a new holder' (which looks remarkably like a screwdown holder and doesn't have a serial#) auctions i've seen lately

    lol
  • I emailed the seller asking him if he thought the card was trimmed. I told him it looked a little bit "light".
His response: What do you mean by that? Are you saying the card is trimmed because if you are, you are incorrect in your assumption. Good Day.
