How to measure centering on 75 Topps?

Just curious as to the best way to do this. Was never a problem in the past as I just eyeballed them and if they didnt look close to 50-50 I didnt mess with them but now I have many that look near perfect save for the centering and was wondering how to tell 70-30 which is the lowest allowed for PSA8 if I read right. Thanks for your help, a scan woud be great also.

  • I use a dial caliper which you can find on ebay for around $20. Measure the left border in thousandths of an inch, then the right border and add the two together. Then divide one of the border measurements by the total and you will have the centering. For example if you have a card with a left border that measures .160 and a right border that measures .120 the centering is 57/43. .160+.120=.280 .160/.280=.5714 or 57% thus you have 57/43 centering. Hope this helps
