Gold Eagle Values

I was just checking the mintages of gold eagles in all years and denominations, and some of these coins actually have lower TOTAL mintages than many of the common date Saint pops. in MS64 and better.

Although just a lowly bullion coin, and they are all basically MS67 or better unless they've been mishandled, do you think some of the very low mintage date gold eagles are undervalued in relation to common date Saints?

This is a very interesting question. I don't believe either are relatively rare compared to a lot of other coins. I'm not much of an expert on modern coins, but I believe most gold eagles and common Saints will move in conjunction with the heat generated by gold bullion prices. I do think there is tremendous collector demand for modern Eagles, so the lower mintage ones or I guess the 70s should probably do better than common Saints. I'm probably not the right person to answer this question as most of my knowlegde is in pre-1964 coins...David
