Dear Mr. Hall,
I realize this may be an odd question to ask a person in your position, but perhaps not really because you are indeed a recognized industry leader and your opinion does count.
How do you feel about the adage "buy the coin, not the holder", and what advice do you have for the less experienced members of our hobby regarding why they should (or should not) heed the adage and how they should heed this adage?
Thanks,
EVP

For those in the know, the "buy the coin and not the holder" adage is a key part of a success strategy. I would bare in mind that no matter how much numismatic knowledge you possess, you cannot get around the market place reality that PCGS coins are worth the most and are the easiest to resell. So i guess I would say that knowledgeable buyers should pick out the PCGS coins they feel are the nicest for the grade.
For the novice, to buy anything other than PCGS or NGC coins is financial roulette. It's a game the novice is odds-on to lose.
