? about coins in NCS holders.

I bought a large cent in an NCS holder. I believe I found the coin in an auction raw from two years ago. There are many identifying marks but the coin looks different (not bad just different). When it was submitted to NCS would they have done some kind of curation before slabbing or would they just stick it in the holder?

Good question! Sorry, I don't have my secret decoder ring with me.

Jim, if you sent the coin to NCS to be holdered, rather than "curated", it is extremely doubtful that anything about the coin has changed.....

  • I didn't send it to NCS. I believe I found the coin it an auction, that owner (or subsequent) must have sent it in. Now I bought it and it's in a NCS. But I believe you answered my question. If it was submitted for curation ( and it's probable since it is a corroded large cent) they would have done their thing then holder it. Or it was sent in just for slabbing and nothing done.
Since they couldn't uncorrode it would they have done something to stabalize?

I don't think they curate copper coins.
