Lock 64 with a shot at 65 judging from the image. Opinion could change with the coin in hand.

    Nice CC. image

    Where's the luster?
  • Options
    I think it's an MS67.

Of course, my opinon may be biased since I charged Clw $3,500 for the piece.image

64..Is it in a "Uncirculated" Silver Dollar or Silver Dollar slab?
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?
  • Options
Based on the date Razor, I'd have to guess "Silver Dollar". Very few common date coins with color made it into the "Uncirculated" holders.

Whoever thinks this piece is an MS63, please sell me all your GSA MS63's that look just like this one, I'll pay full double Greysheet.

    To GSAGUY;
Hmmh, I never knew that. I guess my oldman hit it big when he purchased his commons back in 72, all of'em er uncirculated S.D. slabbed. In fact, I just sent one of his 84's to PCGS for grading, can't wait to see what they give it.

    "Real nice"

I saw it on the open forum. Looked the same there.
The most money I made are on coins I haven't sold.

    Got quoins?

Thank you Dragon. I wasn't going to say anything, but the coin is an MS64 all day, every day, even on the worst of days.

I think a lot of people see a scan blown up 10x the size of the actual coin, see a couple ticks and call them big gouges. I've seen NGC grade ones in the GSA holder with much more chatter than this one at 64. I believe I sold you one Gsaguy. I wouldn't doubt NGC could 65 this one. I don't feel it's 65 but I would go along with a lock 64.

    STMAN,

I agree fully. I told Clw that when he posted a pic he'd get guesses from 63 to 65.

At LB I had the opportunity to look at a lot of NGC certified GSA's. I was amazed at just how baggy a CC can be and still get an MS64 designation.

    64. Could make 65 deoending on how nad the marks are on the jaw. That's the real grade, not any market BS.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

BTW, that coin has an above average strike, not fully struck though. With the superior eye appeal, I gave it a solid 65.

65 on this one. I agree that much leeway is given to the CCs in the bag mark department.
For good reason too. They were transported by covered wagon after all.
So as far as CC dollars go, this one is actually very clean IMO.

I am going to say it will Grade MS65

heres what you do, have NGC grade it 65, then crossover to PCGS 65, then back to NGC for a 66 and bingo,
    you got a big coin.

Your coin is in much better condition than my PCGS MS64 DMPL. It has no chance whatsoever for MS66. This leaves the only possible grade as MS65. Of course, I could, theoretically, have the worst 64 in the world, and you could have the best, but that seems rather unlikely.

Ya just never know! My theory is, it all depends on what type of locoweed the graders are smokin' on a particular day ones coin goes to the grading room. Merely a theory!...image

Coin is a lock 66. The coin is blown up to super size and still looks clean.

Those who grade it 65, I'll pay twice bid for all your 65's that look like this coin.

A little stronger luster and I make it a 67 for sure.

64, because of some light marks on the cheek and neck, and the softer strike on this one.
