I feel unclean

I just bought a nicely toned (gold album concentric toned) 1986 silver eagle in an accucrap holder. I couldn't resist the coin, and the chance to liberate it, although I feel sick and dirty about buying a coin in an accugrade holder (it has a blue insert--is this old or new? It also uses the word "frosted" I'm assuming in reference to the toning?).

Is there a cleansing process I can go through to make me feel clean again?

  • Well, you might try an acetone rinse.

  • Yes. but you will have to HAZMAT!!!! A good pot of boiling lye may be needed and a rinse of white vinegar!!

Don't feel bad, I believe that everyone has bought one either in or was in an ACG holder! Even MadMarty, the Mid-WEST dealer and distributor for ACG!!!image

I once purchased an 1882-CC MS-63 DMPL in an Accugrade holder back before the market went crazy, and I'm pleased with the coin.

I remember when the dealer tried to build in the grading price of the coin on top of the current Greysheet price (back then about $130) -- he stopped me as I turned to walk away and asked what I was willing to pay.

I enjoy purchasing certified slabbed coins that someone else has invested in to have slabbed & certified.

You must insert yourself into a vat of ez-est.
  • A year and a half ago, I haphazardly purchased a 1897-O Morgan Dollar in ACG MS-63 for $450.00 and said to myself "SHIZAM," LOOK AT THE GREAT DEAL I'M GETTING. After I'd found out that ACG holdered anything, including stale underwear, I put it on ebay and made a $175.00 profit. I figured if they said 63 it was probably 60. It was a sharp piece! image

If you buy ebay I'ld trust accugrade more than some of these self graders. besides did you buy the plasic or the coin. don't you guys ever get tired of bashing these out grading companies.

Them's fighting words!!! PCGS, NGC, and ANACS (some PCI if they are cheap) but NEVER Accucrap!!! Npt even I would sink that LOW!!! Now say your sorry and say your will never ever say anything like that again!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Don't we all keep one of these things around for laughs? I've got a Morgan graded 65 and you can clearly tell it was in circulation, AU 55 at best.image
