Light Dip

Hi Dave. In Scott Travers Book "Coin Collectors Survival Manual" you describe a "light Dip" as action on some coins, I think you say "very, very light. So I have my jewel luster in hand and a silver coin with black gunk on it. What do I do?? Do I dilute the jewel luster half and half and do a quick dip?

What is a light dip? The coin is a nice 23 S lib 25 cent. I can see some nice underlaying luster on both sides. This coin will go into PCGS for grading soon so I do not want to mess it up.

Thanks

Tbig

    Tbig,

I urge extreme caution in dipping Standing Liberty quarters. A dip will often cause knee rub to show up big time. If your coin looks like the knee is fully rounded and un-impaired, try 50% dip and 50% water.
