Why do people refuse to stop Ebay auctions for a nice offer????

I just don't get it. I was bidding on a Malone auto and sent the seller an offer to end the auction early. My offer ended up being $30 more than what the auction ended at. Only problem is that I wasn't online at the time the auction ended. I guess there are some people out there that don't want more money???? Must be strange people!!

They might simply be honest people. It specifically says in EBay's User Agreement you CANNOT end auctions early. I know other people do that, but I refuse to simply b/c making a few $ more (possibly) isn't worth getting in trouble w/EBay for. If someone truly wants an item, they can bid the max they'll pay before it closes and hope it hits...that's what I do and that's what you could've done and won the item. Not to mention if you do end an auction early, the other bidders can contact EBay if it looks suspicious. I had someone end an auction early and had another seller contact me basically trying to "hijack" me and find out what my "max" was...promising to end the auction early "for the right price." I reported both incidents to EBay.

I close them early if there are no bids on it, but not if someone has already bid. Ticks me off when a seller closes without contacting me if I'm bidding. I never bid on their stuff again. That's why I don't do it. Maybe someone would react the same with my auctions...

Use an auction sniper, ask a friend to bid on the card.

I have an idea, how about instead of going to all of the trouble to e-mail the seller an offer, why don't you just bid?? That seller may be dumb for not wanting to sell for more money, but you're even dumber for wanting to pay more money. If you made him an offer of $80, and he refused, and the card ends up only ending at $50, you're the dumb one for not just bidding $80 and getting the card for $51.00

i offered someone 30 on hobby insider for an jermaine O'neal spx auto which books for 25-30 he even asked if anyone wanted it, i made the offer he didnt respond, he ebayed it then before it ended he stoped it and listed it again an it ended for $20. he should have taken my offer lol

I agree with Undertaker. Use a snipe program if you're not going to be home.
