You have to see this to believe this!!!!!! Does look like a nice lot notwithstanding the $20 s&h&i.

ESTATE LOT!

Heck, if this is really an estate lot then I must be ancient history!!!

    $20 shipping??????? LOL! I charge $4.50 shipping for 20 ROLLS! The shipping charge alone is enough to drive me away from that one, completely. I could duplicate that lot for the winning bid INCLUDING shipping.

    BTW, in a padded envelope, I'd be suprised if the lot even made it there whole. Padded envelopes do NOT work for such heavy items.

    Am I missing something? Did the OP just pay $52 for $14.50 worth of pennies? The seller says that there are stuff like a 69-S in there, but he doesn't say that it's an entire roll of 69-S's.

    Congrats, I guess...

    $14.50 worth of pennies? What planet are you on? I'll buy all you have at face. They are uncirculated rolls, and each one is worth a minimum of $1 per roll no matter how you look at it. If you don't believe me, do a little homework in the greysheet.

    Oh, I believe you -- it's clear that you're more the expert on this than I (which isn't hard to begin with). Like anything with coins, different items have different values to different people. While I might be talked into paying a dollar a roll for these, no way would I pay $52. But that's just me...

    Me too...I definately agree with you. While the winning bid was okay for the coins, the shipping was WAY out of line.

    Like most E-bay purchases, this is one big crap shoot. seven or eleven you win. Snake eyes and you crap out. I wish you good luck because you may have scored big. I also understand the opinion that you just paid $52.00 for $14.50 in pennies.(Please excuse the use of the term "penny")

    flaminio is right. This would concern me. Initially, I assumed we were talking about a 69-S mint roll among others.

    Excused. I use it just to p*-off the pedants image.
  • Not an original lot to begin with. 69-s pennies are common. I got a whole damn bag of em. Another good reason to
    stay away from ebay.........

    Yeah, 69S cents are common, as are all the other dates that lot has. I have a large number of all those dates in stock on a regular basis....at least 20-30 rolls of each, and on occasion over a bag worth.

    Hey....I also have unopened US Mint bag of 1969-PDS through 74-S cents as well. Not only that, I actually bought another 69-S bag from the esteemed Greg who actually went through every cent to make sure none of them were DDO's. :-)

    Now I bought that lot for one reason only. The Boy Scout troop wanted a lot big enough to search and lately, it has been somewhat difficult to find a decent quantity of unc. rolls at less than $1.75 delivered. On the east coast, finding S mint rolls are harder to find than even the 1969 and 1971-P's despite their lower cost.

    When I buy rolls I try to buy the obw rolls at a premium over the greysheet.

    Remind me to let you know how this lot works out for the kids!

  • heck, just 1 1972-S double die obverse in MS65 would be worth enough to cover the lot AND take your wife out to dinner a hundred times image

    And searching through all of those pennies would probably be more fun than going to see 5 new movies or 1 professional sporting event (at least for me)

    once you get them and spend a couple weeks searching, let us know what gems you found !

    1972-S DDO?

    You mean 1972-P DDO?

    I did find 7 1972-P DDO's in 1972!!!

    I will now have to wait until I am retired to look through my other cents (the opened rolls/bags).

    The Scouts will look at these cents for me. Their eyes are so much better than my 50 year old eyes!!!

    Also it is doubled die

  • woops, I meant a 1970-S doubled die obverse - one just sold for $23,500 a couple days ago on Teletrade

    according to them PCGS has just certified 27 pieces.....

    Cool!!! I just received the package and inside it was a at least 1 roll of BU 1986-D cents. Really nice. Many S mint rolls also but will give you more info as I look through them.

    Hmmm, 1986.....that is an ESTATE already???????????

    I'm unfamiliar, is '86-D a better date for Lincoln cent UNC rolls? I have a large toolbox full of UNC Lincoln rolls I bought from a dealer (not an estate image ) several years ago, I'm sure I have at least one '86-D as most memorial dates through 1994 were present.

    While I'm asking, what are the other desirable dates for UNC memorial cent rolls? Thanks,

    I don't like the way the description is worded. A lot of fill and very few facts. You may end up disappointed...especially after paying $20 for shipping.
    All glory is fleeting.

    291fifth/seanq: The 1986-D BU cent roll runs around $23 Bid and $24 Ask as of four months ago in the greysheet. That covered more than the shipping cost alone! Interestingly, the roll had 48 1986-D cents and only 2 1987-D cents in it. I wonder if the seller knew he had a 1986-D roll. I have extra BU 1986-D cents to complete the roll.

    So here is what I got (using old June 27th greesheet bid numbers):

    1964-P======= .70
    1968-D (2)====1.60
    1968-D====== .80
    1968-S (5)====4.00
    1969-S (2)====2.00
    1970-S (4)====3.80
    1971-S (3)====5.10
    1972-S (2)====2.40
    1973-S (3)====4.80
    1983-P=======2.00
    1986-D======23.00
    1987-D (3)====4.20
    1989-P (2)====2.60
    1991-P=======1.05

    Total $56.25 (if I added it right)

    I paid $52 including s&h.

    I survived ok. Some of the rolls are really superb.

  • Oreville,

    I think that you did just fine.

    29 Rolls is about 10 LBS of coin. Depending on how he shipped them, I don't think that you got ripped.
