Presumed Key Roosevelt’s take it on the chin.

The previously low pop (with FB) 55-s Roosevelt dime has jumped 125% this week.
18 FB compared to 8 last week OUCH!!

The scarce but much maligned 1958 P had a 100% jump.
10 now up from 5.

On the other end large numerical increases in the 1946-S which raised it’s FB population by 40, the53-D by 28 coins, the 59-D by 43 coins, and the 62 by 21.

In the clad area of the Roosevelt’s the first 1970-D and 1990-D with FB have been reported.
That only leaves 17 more to be found with Full Bands to fill the set.

23 1981-D’s with FB have been added (so what’s new), but there were 22 1986-D’s submitted but not one made FB (Mmmm).

In the Ultra Modern area (1999-Date) things have slowed to a craw with only a few submitted for the 4 years. I guess that there can be to many MS 68 FB”s.

Well that’s all I see right now

Thanks for the report. The '86-D is seen with a narrow separation. Apparently
these aren't going to get the designation this way.

Good post. Actually, the Roosie guys "in the know" were fully expecting the 55(s) pop rise in MS66FB and I've been telling the guys the 58(p) in MS66FB will also see significantly rising pops, but, some wanted to believe the coin is "rare" in MS66FB (not Nick).
I have passed on several of these offered me in the past 10 days and, frankly, felt the pricing of the coins was 2x what it should have been (perhaps not any more). I do like these coins in SOLID MS67FB though (with SOLID, NO QUESTION BANDS) and I would personally not hesitate to tuck a dup or two away for a "rainy day". But, IMHO, MS66FB examples are simply "point coins", if you know what I mean. image

Well put Mitch. Registry hole fillers until suitable MS67FB coins are made/found!

If I had it my way, stupidity would be painful!
  • the 55-s is common in 65fb and lower, I know I raised the pop by
those 10 fb 55-s you are talking about, it will go up a little next week as well

I never expected the 55S or 54S to become the key FB for the series. They will be tough in high grade and tough
with color. All the ones coming out are from rolls. I have yet to see an album or mint set toned 55S with full bands.
The 58P will be a tough coin to find in FB and almost imposible in MS67FB and higher. The pops may slowly rise
for this date in FB in the lower grades, But I think the 58P in a lower grade FB holder will hold some value, along
with several other dates. Solely because There counter parts in 67FB will be so tough to locate, and when one
does become available it will be snapped up. Keep your eye on the 63P & D. This may become the sleeper to the
    series.

One last note. You will also see the pops rise for some of the better date 66FB coins because of crack outs trying
for that first MS67FB. I already heard of 2 58P 66FB's being cracked out and stayed 66FB. Were the tags turned
in?.... I don't know but I doubt it.

Well, I just have to put my two cents in...
I recently cracked out an NTC 1951-S MS67FB. It came back the same. I was really pleased. I don't suppose this happens too often.
  • are the 1957 and 1961 gonna be tough in FB, or are we too early to tell ?

They will both definitely be in the better date column. 57P ranks right up there at the top. Don't over look
the 57D. It will be a tough one too.
