what price guide is most accurate for what series

is the price guide in the Redbook most accurate for buffalo nickels for instance?
I noticed prices for various dates are just all over the place.
does the Redbook specialize in buffalo nickel prices or somwthing?
and the older the series (in the redbook) the flatter prices look across all dates.
is this acurrate pricing?
i know , redbook general retail prices, greysheet` dealers `real price guide``but
is there a series that is priced the most accurate over other series?
or is it always what `Trends`says and thats that?
