Long Beach report

I am hesitant to report on Long Beach for different people have different perspectives from general to specific results.

But, with that in mind, I will say that in general there are more buyers than sellers at the show. Starting on Monday dealer to dealer sales are strong. This is particularly true of the more traditional coins (19th and 20th century coins). You pick the series and we see 10 to 15% increase from the ANA show. There are deals to be found but it is like looking for a needle in the haystack. We bought a 1926-S Lincoln at a fair value, but other coins were very high for us.

Only a few people had moderns to sell with some dealer to dealer deals. This is typical for the show but there is some strength in what is available. Many were asking for the harder date coins like the 1997 Jackie Robinson and high end Proofs.

Today, the auctions will be strong and we believe strong prices will be realized with some values for the shrewd buyer.

  • Mitch,

My brother saids to say hello and enjoyed the luncheon with you.

My reports are from my brother and the conversations I have had over this week with people attending the show.

Will be looking forward to your review of Long Beach as I have found it detailed and informative.
