WOW is right. I hope they are under investigation.
Why won't PSA or other companies grade star cards??? There are a lot of basketball collectors that would love to have those in holders? Are there to many uncut sheets around?
I'm not a basketball expert, but I think it's because Star wasn't licenced by the NBA at the time. Therefore PSA won't holder Star cards. Maybe our crack team of basketball experts on this board can enlighten all of us...
Hope that helps...

King....That is a very good question. I have a lot of time on my hands as a recently unemployed middle-aged guy. Instead of sitting around and feeling sorry for myself, I felt that I would use my newfound freedom to note important developments in this hobby of ours. FBI investigations, allegations of trimmed cards, disputes between collectors, etc K
they wont grade Star cards because of the "warehouse find" in the early 1990s, where Star Co. owner Bob Levin found hundreds of uncut sheets. whether these were originally authentic or just reprinted (using the original printing plates) is unclear
mrc32-At one time PSA did grade Star Company cards. However, about 6 or 7 years ago the original printer of Star Company cards (Robert Lavin I believe but I could be wrong) reprinted some of the cards. Once this story came out and there were charges and I believe PSA stopped grading these cards because they probably felt they could not tell the difference. Not all of the sets were reprinted but the hobby perception is that there is a lot of reprinted and counterfeit material out there so mostly everybody has been scared off buying and grading Star Company cards.
koby- I have heard rumours of that before but nothing ever substantiated.
As for ASA grading. If you sent in card to ASA to grade they were fairly accurate. They would NOT encapsulate your trimmed or altered cards - they would likely only encapsulate cards that they had trimmed or altered themselves.

Hey, we're all friends here (except for MyBigToe and Smelly). You don't have to hide behind the charade with the misspelling of the name and all that. It's strictly "hush, hush" over here on this board.

That seller has LARGE cajones to put something like "that" in his eBay ad.....
There will be discussions on this issue....

Does anyone know whether the FBI is in fact conducting an investigation?
