how do the player sets work

Is the number of cards in the set result from the cards graded of that player? If there's only 3 cards graded of a player, would there only be 3 in the set? How does this get decided? Are cards added when a new one is graded? Any info would be helpful.

for a regular / basic set, the cards are the PSA graded cards of his regular issue, during his playing years, from the major companies like Topps and Fleer. For a master set its all graded cards showing the player, even if its a league leader card, team card, or special card like the 1974 #1 Home Run card for hank aaron. Ultimately, for master sets, ethe set continues to grow and cards are graded from issues that had not been graded previously. The basic set is pretty much set in stone as far as what is eligible to beon it, but you can't put a card on teh basic set until PSA has graded one. For modern players, this is a pain, but that's the way it is. For vintage guys its easy, as they don't keep adding sets every 12 minutes.
