Locked Registry Set in Protest....

Well PCGS did it this time as far as I am concerned. The banning of another member who was a asset to the Forums without a hint of a clue why just did not set correctly with myself. So my minor protest is to lock the set so no one can gain any value from seeing the coins that PCGS has graded.

The registries have always in my opinion been both a asset for the collector and PCGS. PCGS reaps Free promotion of thier product from collectors when we enter our collections and include pictures. Certainly I think locking the set will take away from the spirt of helping fellow collectors but at this point the spirt will be put on the back burner as I see no reason to give PCGS any Free Promotional help untill some matters can be cleaned up reguarding thier handling of problems that arise within the collecting community.

I will say that in the past I have been on the PCGS side when members have been banned. This last ban, when the member made NO Personal Attack against a individual, carried No merit at all. If the member did make a personal attack I sure did not see it.

If and when PCGS can come out and give a reasonable reason that supports this last ban I will promote thier product again. Untill then someone just tell me why anyone should promote the PCGS product. Its really a shame a Hobby should be so complicated and unsettling.

Later Guys...Maybe Much Later....as this place has ceased to be much Fun.

WHAT??? are you talking about? It might be a smart idea to enlighten us with some facts. OK? Steve
  • Who got banned? And how does everyone find out this sort of information? Is there a list somewhere?
  • Who got banned?
  • I have locked my Mercury Dime sets also.

I am sorry to see this taking place. I guess I had placed
too much confidence in PCGS and was only purchasing
    coins they certified.

  • Forgot to add:

This was in relation to the attributed Norweb coin which it turned out was not from the Norweb collection, and Jade coin lost $$$ on it. The link explains the details since the thread was deleted....
  • Thanks for the info! Wish the thread was still available

looks like they will have several pages of the thread on their site sometime soon.

I removed my FE set quite some time ago after I read what I felt were condescending remarks made toward collectors.

Now I just wish I could get them wiped off of the "all time" category.
  • Did they ever get compensated?

I consider myself a fairly bright person, but this Thread and its intent confuses me.

Pat did the guy crap on the potatoes ? I think not. So without some sort of explanation I just do not accept the decision to boot him out of the house.

I suppose I could come on here and call PCGS and the owners names but I try not to do that. This is just my way of saying I Dis-Agree with some of thier (PCGS) decisions in the last year or so reguarding people who stay and get the invitation to leave these forums.

Do you not think this is true, the decisions made, with the exdous of outstanding members forced and unforced in the last year. Some real winners stay and the decent members go. Hmmm....

Ken, I get that (sort of), but how is locking a Registry a "protest"?

I would think killing your sets right and left and exiting the PCGS Registry might work. Anything less than that would probably garner a snicker, at best, from the PCGS brass.

Pat much work has been put into the pictures and at this point I do not want to delete the set. I thought that maybe PCGS would jump in and give some sort of a explanation on why a member can get booted without any reason that many folks have not seen.

Edit to add: Really IMO the whole mess (Jade Coin vs PCGS) was handled without any tact from either party.

Yep I guess I am very Naive and the Brass are chuckling.
