Should PCGS Allow "Grading" AND "Cross At Any Grade" On 1 Submission Form (POLL)

Let's say you have 10 coins you want to submit to PCGS and let's say 8 are raw and 2 are in slabs.

PCGS currenty REQUIRES that you submit them on two separate forms - 1 being for "grading" of the 8 raw coins & 1 being for "crossover" on the 2 slabbed coins.
This means that you have to pay 2 shipping charges back to you and they have to spend more time packaging and dealing with 2 orders rather than just 1 (one possible procedural factor leading to their backlog?). Let's further say that you have a free submission form for 10 coins... image

But let's say that you want to "cross at any grade" on the 2 slabs and that as far as you are concerned the slabs are just the same to you as the flips that the raw coins are in and can be treated as garbage and instantly and automatically discarded as soon as PCGS removes the coins from them. Let's further assume that you just simply prefer to have PCGS remove the coins from the slabs (as they are "experts" at it) to eliminate the possibility that you damage the coins.

Does it make ANY sense for this position of theirs? Doesn't it seem logical to be able to include "grading" & "cross at ANY grades" on the same submission form? (Of course this assumes you are willing to risk a Body Bag AFTER it is removed from the slab - so you'd better be sure before doing this IF it were allowed). I might be missing something but I just can't see the logic ... image

I think they should permit ANY combination of grading types on one form.

  • even if they do not allow different services on one invoice they should allow combining of shipments.
  • I have wished that you could combine crossing and raw grading before, also.

At the same time, I can see PCGS's desire not to have a raw order done, and then
it needs to sit around waiting for a crossover attempt to finish before it is shipped.
