Congrats to Roger (red cents) for climbing to the top of a tough hill (Lincoln's w/ var 59 - present).

I couldn't open this up for some reason but the average grade is high.
Must be a great set.

P.S. Roger - if you feel my comments are a wee bit unfair, let's get together in Long Beach for dinner and discuss it further in person - I know a great Greek restaurant with magnificent belly dancers
I'll have to keep you guessing which one I still need
I'm prouder of this one: Lincoln Cents with Varieties PROOF 59-Present

Edited to change name.
Not disagreeing but as for: "I cannot believe you did not bid higher for the 79 in 8"
Knowing Domino needed it going in, I knew he probably had it sniped for 2-3k (probably the latter) & I honestly didn't want to get into it at that level. I'm also VERY surprised no one else (with all due respect, including you & Mitch) besides ME & Domino bid higher than $1,150.99.
"Your latest proof finds are quite nice but again, it is nowhere near the finest set if they were all registered."
Also probably true BUT I DEFINITELY have more POP 1 TOP POP proofs than ANYONE else (at least as far as Memorial CAM's & DCAM's are concerned).
I doubt Roger would argue too much (and would admit) that he has more work to do to improve his set beyond the quality of Domino. That is what will make the MS Lincoln market quite exciting in the years ahead.

& yes, I realize that if they just became 100% complete in the varieties they would automatically jump past me & yes I've heard it said before that there are better sets NOT registered ...
It's all Gerry's fault !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come out out of the closet wherever you are, come out Gerry, come out
Although you are correct that there are unregistered sets out there that could claim the title, by the tone of your reply you still aren't giving redcents much credit for having the number one set. When it comes to currently registered sets, don't forget to take into account the expected grades that Domino might obtain the two missing coins in and what that would do to the set average. Heck if you feel that way about redcents set you must have a great opinion of the set I'm building based on the quality of the coins that I've bought off of you this year.
Furthermore, I'm not sure I understand the logic behind your "lowball bid" comment...seems to me that if I were in redcents' shoes knowing that the coin is going elsewhere at anything more than a steal that I would refrain from trying to drive up the price. All a higher selling price right now would do is support higher prices on the coin when redcents buys his own example in the future.
redcents,
Congratulations! As for guessing what coin you have left...just had to do the math to figure that one out. I'm sure some of the dealers are left wondering though.
Stewart,
You keep using the word "fault" incorrectly.

To this statement I can agree 100%. The upgrades from here on (with a few exceptions) will be hard to find & pricey when they (if ever) become available.
Just to add an additional thought. There may be other registry collections that don't have all their best stuff listed. I just won't add any missing Lincolns to my set if they don't equal the quality of the others. As an example, I own 1 brown Memorial variety that I refuse to add to my set. If I owned the other two in red, I might consider it (for a short while).

I guess you keep spreadsheets of your sets also? It helps me track my progress (and future progress).
Redcents,
Congratulations! Attaining number 1 with only one coin to go is quite a feat. However, as Rella notes, it's rather simple math to figure out the weight of the coin you are missing. If the weight had been 1, then there would still be quite a few to guess from. But the weight isn't 1. You might as well open the set up and let the rest of us admire it. Otherwise everyone is going to have to review their math skills to find out what you are missing. And they still won't know what jewels you do have.

Roger: Exactly, but isn't it disingenuous to then assert those other fellas paid too much or issue warnings to fellow collectors concerning impending doom to the series?
