Offered here only for one week, then it goes to the Long Beach show.
Much better low mintage (750,000) date. Nicely struck. Surprisingly few marks, even for a 65. No planchet striations (roller marks) as is often seen with this date. Strong lustre under a wash of reddish/caramel color tone. On the obverse, color is strongest at the rims and lettering, but lightens progressively moving inward toward the centers. On reverse, color is a bit stronger and is blended with quite a bit of blue; again strongest toward the rims and lighter in the middle. An attractive coin that needs a new owner who appreciates original color -- as opposed to me who is a blast white nut.
My latest Grey Sheet (August 11) shows $2,300 Bid/$2,600 Ask.
$2,100 delivered takes it. Please e-mail me at westdairy2@aol.com
