  • Oops, the link doesn't work. It is the auction for the 1971 Topps Pete Rose PSA 9.

  • What is the pop. on this beauty? Sweet card!
  • Yes, this seller certainly has a few First Series cards, doesn't he?

    Must have specialized in them.

The pop has gone from 1 which got bumped to a 10, thus leaving the score at zero. Now there are 3 nines.

George Scott, now there was an Old School slugger.

Yes he was - I remember how he used to always say "He was going to hit some Taters for Magnolia"

Now, there's an implied statement if I ever saw one.....

There is an amazing amount of bitterness in this hobby (most likely rightly so) regarding that first PSA 9 that got bumped to a 10.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • That's a sharp "Boomer".
  • If the borders on the Rose were any wider, it would be Montana.
  • If you're scoring at home, that's two implied sheetcut statements.
  • Think what you want. I'm working on my geography. Is Wyoming wider than Montana?
  • Man, people here are quick. After some quick eBay "homework" this afternoon, I thought I had discovered something worth posting, but, as usual, the gang here was already on the case ... It's not like I could afford the card anyway, but when a rarity pops up, I like to watch what happens image.

  • This card looks like it's gonna easily top 5 figures. At $7500 with 5 days left and 35 bids already. Egads!

  • My hat is off to you 1971 collectors. I've never come across a group of masochists that remotely resemble you. If you were born during the Middle Ages, you would have been the guys walking around with the cat o'nine tails whipping your backs off. I collect older issues and had no idea what these cards are selling for. My jaw dropped and I still haven't been able to pick it up. That is one high priced set. Good luck, kamikazes.

  • Anybody have any idea what happened in the 1971 Rose PSA 9 auction? It was ended early as the card no longer being available for sale. Do you'll think he ended it early because he got an overwhelming offer? Or, do you think he had second thoughts about selling it? Either way, it sucks because I was really curious what it would go for. The card was way out of my price range, but I was enjoying watching the price of the card rise.
  • I don't know why he pulled it, but I'm bummed we didn't get to see the end price.

  • If it helps, my third-hand, poor short-term memory recollection is that the initial PSA 9 (the one that is now in a 10 holder) sold somewhere in the $15,000 neighborhood. I have no clue what the 2nd one sold for (earlier this year I think) - but I'd have to guess it was at least the same amount.
