My 1938-1964 Proof Jeff Registry set is complete, cool

As usual not as planned, but I considered it an opportunity. On Teletrade last Wednesday I won both a 68DCam and a 69DCam 1961 nickel, the last date I needed. They arrived Tuesday and today I sent back the 69. I think the 69 was a bargain and a beauty, but I also thought the 68 was even nicer. A hair's breath difference, but I gave the nod to the 68 on thickness of frost, depth of mirrors and surface quality image

I guess you were right Randy. With the 1961 in 68, I'll be in 3rd current, 4th all time, at least temporarily. I don't think Frank or BNE need to worry about my challenging them any time soon. I'm not sure the "passing lane" extneds clear to their sets.

I expect to turn my attention to my Proof Lincolns now, but my expectations don't always seem to bear that much relationship to what happens. Maybe a near cameo 1941 walker will magically appearimage

Congrats, Richard, that is a monster set you have put together and your ranking will be well deserved ... image
  • That is cool, Karma image I see you edged me on the all time list by 1 measly hundredth of a point! As I sold 4 of my top coins from that era I won't be able to do anything about it either image
  • Damn that's one nice set. It will take me some real work to even get close to that. Well done!

Congratulations! That is one fantastic set, coolkarma! Although you SAY you are looking to another series to work on, you seem to have a good eye for coins, and I won't be surprised to see other opportunistic upgrades in the future. Congratulations, again!!!

  • Thanks everyone - I am very happy with all the coins. Each is special in one way or another.

I won't be surprised either image I believe in taking advantage of opportunites. If it's a near cameo 1941 walker, or a 1923-s buffalo, or a cameo 1940's nickel, I'll try to take advantage of it. The trick is to know which are golden opportunities, and which are opportunities better left for someone else's gold image
