1963 Collectors Please help!

handymanhandyman Posts: 5,377 ✭✭✭✭✭
Im starting the 1963 Topps baseball set this week and am going to go for the 100% mark no matter what. I wanted to know from other fellow collectors which cards are the hardest to find in Nm-Mt shape and which never seem to pop up. Any help will do.
Thanks guys.

  • Why not do a 1963 Fleer set? I have one with a GPA over 7 with all the superstars in PSA 8. Also, there's room for improvement. You can be done in five minutes.

I have a 1963 fleer also in all 8's I have 60% of it so far. Im talking about the topps though
  • Derek.......maybe some of the other 63 Topps collectors will help me out here, but here are some of your hardest cards in PSA 8.

    #14 Ramos
    #21 Keough
    #28 Fornielles
    #30 Kuenn
#34 Schofield (find this one in an 8, and make plans for your retirement)
    #40 Power
    #114 Osinski
    #328 Williams

Also, look for cards from around #280 to the lower 300's to be somewhat scarce in 8 for some reason

    #310 T. Davis - Try finding seven.

  • Don't forget to mortgage your house if you find:

22-Simmons (always pd or oc?) If an 8 ever pops up on ebay, it'll go for more money than I've got to spend.
    50-Pierce (always oc?)
    84-Kline
    89-Stigman

Sayitaintso is right: Schofield, Power & Fornieles are the MONSTERS. I sold a Fornieles for $200 about a year ago to one of the top collectors. At the time, I had never seen a '63 common go for more than $125. Now, I realize I sold it way too low.

If you really want to learn about this set, email the #2 guy on the Registry. He's made it a lifetime hobby to know the set.

what type of prices are yall talking about? that they would go for now?
    Thanks yall
  • My crystal ball says, "$200 and up" on every card mentioned thus far. Power and Schofield would bring $500+ IMHO.
