Home PSA Set Registry Forum

OK People, let's remember what this Forum is about....

I just noticed that the top 5 threads are either for selling cards from their collections or buy notices for particular cards for their collections. I just want to drop a friendly reminder and say that those messages belong on the Vintage Buy, Sell and Trade Forum and not here. Thanks.

Can we get the moderator to move them?

I'm familiar with just about all of these collectors and they are decent guys, so I'm sure they just weren't aware of the rules.

A bit of advice for them is to mention what they have for sale or what they are looking for in their Signiture Line which can be added and edited in their Profile. Of course for those Signiture Lines to have any exposure, they will need to post messages frequently on all of the Forums which is strongly encouraged.
  • Dan,

Please accept my apology. Ignorance of the message board's policy is no excuse. However, I believe several expert collectors (i.e. Carlos) have advertised their PSA Sets on this board. It won't happen again!

Tim -- I was pretty sure you didn't know and it's not a major deal, so don't sweat it. BTW, I wish you had the last 3 cards that I need for my '68 set, but unfortunately you don't. If you put your message on the Vintage Trading board, you'll probably get some nibbles. Good luck!
  • In the process of moving them.

I don't really have an issue if someone has a substantial amount of "Registry-type" cards to sell or even their entire collection and mentions it here (with a list on the Vintage Board). Certainly 100+ such cards is of high interest to this group. Ten total is probably too few.

As to the Sports Moderator doing his job, I wouldn't count on it too much. He spends farr too much time viewing pictures in the "girlie" thread on the Open Forum to be of much use over here.

Tim -- One more comment. You are right about Carlos, and think most collectors will agree with me that when someone has a complete set in the Top 5 in the Registry or near complete set and decides to sell it, that's major news and worth mentioning on this board. Honestly Tim, your message was OK by me but I think the problem comes when messages are started where collectors are looking for or selling just one or two items.
  • As David so aptly pointed out. I have a few other boards under my wing, coins, the open forum , and the B/S/T board.

The open forum is enough to try the patience of a saint, and with Mr. Vargha constantly stirring up trouble and sowing the seeds of malcontent wherever he goes (especially the Open Forum), I certainly have my hands full.

I always wondered how you got 9600+ posts under your belt. You must spend as much time hanging out posting girlie pictures as you do posting message about your baseball card habit.....

I am not a malcontent. This is so uncalled for. I could handle having my reputation besmirched by a paid employee of CU, but this unpaid volunteer is the real troublemaker. All I ever wanted was for everyone to just get along.
  • Volunteer?

Drafted would be a more accurate term.

OK, I'll confess, Vargha is one of the pillars of virtue on that board. I just wanted to reciprocate him dropping me in the pile with the girlie thread business (A link to which HE so conveniently provided, thus corrupting you all.....all part of him being that pillar of virtue)

As for threads on the Open Forum, I'll give my endorsement to this one started by our very own Carew4me. TheCoin-niks pretty much polute the board with profound threads such as, "I just had a sandwich", or "buggy wuggies".

So please show your solidarity for the Sports Collectors on Open Forum and contribute to this classic thread in the making: This thread will never fade....
  • VarghaVargha Posts: 2,392 ✭✭
Thank you. I think that "pillar of virtue" is an appropriate term. I just posted the photo to help out a board member who was complaining that there hadn't been any good sem-naked chick threads in a long time. As I said, I just want to be conciliatory. Your insinuations are making it extremely difficult for me to maintain my ambassador-like nature.

I was simply trying to "get along" with a fellow board member. It was your lustful thoughts that you had while viewing the thread that I took objection to. As many of the posters here are under the age of 18, I was concerned that you might be contaminating their impressionable, young minds. I will say no more about this unless further provoked. I know that you are probably a good person, deep down under that Sports Moderator title and likely are quite ashamed of how you have behaved both in print as well as in the recesses of your mind. I know that if I were you, I certainly would be.

I brought up that quote befor when BKAH slams a seller. I say it is allowed base on that alone. Singles , sets anything that sits in a PSA holder.

Not from this guy,I just want to understand the unspoken rules without stepping on anyone's toes.
It does say building them, buying them, selling them, collecting them.
So the gray matter needs to be spelled out,I guess.

How many times have you seen a thread make an announcement of a fire sale,a recently processed invoice, etc?

If it was registry related most folks don't have a problem with it.Now for singles most use the Vintage board because the BST board doesn't seem like a place where folks can offer a single(s) and get it sold. When it comes to what folks who frequent the Vintage, registry board I never seen any harm done by offering certiain cards. Not Jeff Kent refractor things but you know what I mean.

Dammit Rob! I am sorry to have to break from my normally conciliatory tone to chastise you, but you are merely trying to stir the pot. If somebody doesn't want cards listed for sale on this forum, then by all means, we need to acquiesce to their wishes. However, if somebody does want cards listed for sale on this forum, then by all means, we need to acquiesce to their wishes as well. How we get these seemingly incompatible positions to reconcile is not for me to say as I don't want to make any waves. Perhaps Joe Orlando or that PSAtan guy could get involved in figuring it out.
  • VarghaVargha Posts: 2,392 ✭✭
Let me just add that if that Sports Moderator guy spent half the time on this board that he does leering at http://www.victoriassecret.com/, then this never would have been an issue in the first place.
  • God, they should drop those Victoria Secret catalogs in Iraq. Peace will break out in a second. Also, the humidity will rise 19 percent due to the self-abuse perspiration.

Now, I know someone mentioned my name and wants me to get involved. I'm happy to. Can someone just tell me what I'm supposed to do? I'm not on my game today.

  • Realizing that sooner or later, some "Pillar of Virtue" would post a link to such sites on the boards, I sacrifice my valuable time in checking these out, just to ensure that they would be safe for one and all.

Please no need to thank me and do hold the applause.

    Thank You

    Consider it done.
  • This happens about once a month - could it be rag time? Chastise someone and then the other members tell you to lighten up - then you agree and everyone carries-on with a group grope.

Do you guys read every post and thread every day??? Do you need a 12-step program for message boards? This is the most touchy-feely henhouse on the Internet.

The only thing that I can figure is that this board has taken the place of the old card shops where people sat around and BS-ed all day. When I see some of the nonsense that's discussed I find it comical that anyone would chastise someone for posting to the "wrong" board.

Always fun to read and learn. Please don't blackball me. Lot's of good stuff here from the pros of the hobby!

  • Pete Maravich was a pu-ss-eee. I could score 40 pts. a game if I shot the ball 100 times. Also, only a weak man would trade his alcoholism for Jesus.

However, you are right that the board sometimes gets off topic.

Dave,I'm not trying to stir up the hornet nest to fire anyone up.What good would that do?I just posted what is listed by CU beside the Registry forum on the home page,it says what it says.Aparently there is a fine line on the buying and selling end that crosses the line.I guess we'll have to wait for the authorities to define the happy medium so things don't get out of hand.

Pinchdatail - no problem between myself and the Mad Man Vargha or anyone else(as far as I know) for that matter.

Pinchy -- Rob is right. We are all just one happy family (except for Smelly) over here on this board. I harbor no ill feelings towards Rob, although his constant pettiness has given me reason at times to reconsider my childhood vow to try to be more like Gandhi. Then again, who am I really, to judge the musings of a man who spent the greater part of his twenties on the fifth floor at Bellevue? Perhaps Rob has found an inner peace associated with reading the CU forum user agreement that none of the rest of us has taken the time to read. The New England Journal of Medicine has noted that reading pieces such as the legal disclaimer for Nexium or the nutritional content of a Double Whopper offer a certain therapeutic value that perhaps Rob has discovered in his constant perusing of the agreement.

While I was content to simply click on the box that said "I agree", without reading any further, Rob has painstakingly taken the time to memorize the agreement in its entirety. While others scoff at Rob, I am glad to be associated with someone who has put his Evelyn Wood training to good use. Although his constant PM's to me (236 to date, so far) with the constant theme of "Did you know that the user agreement actually says . . . ?" or "Technically (certain forum poster) is violating the whole spirit of the user agreement that we have all sworn to uphold" border on the teetering edge of tiresome. Nonetheless, Rob serves a certain purpose that all of here can appreciate. He is like the parliamentarian that you learned about in your high school civics class, but never really knew what the function of a parliamentarian was, much less, how to spell it.

So to mistake the banter here as sharp-edge barbs designed to denigrate one another or just another Rodney King-like lovefest is to miss the subtle nuances associated with any family that has members like Susan Atkins or Squeaky Fromme. Just because you have difficulty understanding our kinship, it doesn't mean that we aren't normal people who simply choose to forego relationships, exercise and human interaction at the spoken level so that we can spend more time with our brethren.
  • I welcome when people post their Set Registry cards for sale or an invoice. There's too much "noise" on the BST board to do any constructive buying or trading. The solution is if you see a thread that doesn't interest/apply to you, just pass on reading it.
