ANOTHER Really Trimmed card graded by PRO...

This one is the worst ever!
1959 Topps Bob Gibson
We should have a contest where we can find the smallest card (most trimmed) that has been slabbed by PRO. (Are PRO and PRO GOLD the same) Maybe I will scour the bargain bin at the next show I attend and pick up all those MINT 1952's with the while borders entirely sliced off. I could make a fortune!

Seriously, it's a crime that these cards are being passed off as legitimate NM-MT 8.5 cards. And then the dealer is so shady (because he knows that this cardboard is worthless) to hide the bidders and his feedback's identities.

  • That card is one of their earlier graded cards (serial number starting with 03...) so it's probably graded less critically. image

Isn't that the case with PSA cards? image

It's a 1959 Topps Mini Test Card, which is extremely rare. I wished I had seen this earlier so I could have exercised the Buy It Now option.

  • Yeah, that Mantle kills me!
So sure that card is 2.5" by 3.5 "!
It's a shame, too, because I'm sure that Mantle was surely worth something before it was introduced to Mr. Papercutter. image

Surely this is against ebay rules -- offering to sell the card outside of ebay's ability to get paid.

Sellerman, what's up with those wicked awesome 52s you bought at auction in AC?

Dave, that is so true. You'd be amazed at the stuff people trim and try to get away with. Cards from the 90's that are trimmed! Who's trimming 90 Fleer Sosa's?...they're out there! Perfectly nice cards that would sell for 15-20 bucks rendered worthless (or at least undesireable) because of some misguided buffoon with an x-acto set. To murder these cards is just sad. To knowingly offer them as legitimate examples is criminal.
  • I also love how in the auction description, the seller states, "All cards I sell are guaranteed authentic. I never sell reprints."
Oh ok! That makes me feel that much better. How about your guarantee that the cards are not sliced and diced???

  • I think "Pro Gold" is Pro's lower-cost subsidiary company. Kind of like BVG and BCCG . . .

Or, perhaps, if the Pro grader's hands can't stop shaking due to lack of booze (or, perhaps, if a card is sooooo trimmed that the Pro grader can't, in good conscience, grade the card), they send the card to "Pro Gold".

"PRO GOLD" is their deluxe service - a PRO grader will grade your card after drinking a bottle of Cuervo Gold.

  • Fock Pro. I'm sick of this nonsense. I just wish my woman was as neatly trimmed as all the PRO cards out there.
