I wouldn't recommend it esp if you don't want to ruin your album. Elemental sulfur is not the thing to use as it is rarely if ever found that way in the atmosphere unless you are in those parts of Texas where the sulfur mines are. Also dry sulfur is not the form to use as it is somewhat unreactive under ordinary room conditions and you would end up with an ugly black POS that wouldn't even be fit for an ACG slab.
I did a experiment and took a small box and ground off the ends of a few matches and scattered it along the edges of the inside of the box. Then put a low grade AU franklin in the center and closed the box and checked on it abount once a week. The only thing that happened after a couple of weeks black spots developed on the coin.
