I would think this would be a well received special by many. I may have to look through my 50's cards at these prices.

I saw the special on the set registry home page under the "grading special" heading. It is the first item listed on the page.

I was excited until I saw it was for baseball only. Still a good special and I believe the first one for pre-1960 material.

Maybe that's a sign that PSA might be re-introducing the useful specials like they had a year ago and not the (ahem) lesser ones of late.

Yeah!

I won a large lot of 1952 Topps (a set I have just recently started) at the National and also picked up a slew of raw cards there, too.
I will definitely be taking advantage of this special...

If I send in a bunch of 1952's, can I send in high numbers as long as they are not listed?

YES. Any card not listed in SMR at over the common card price in PSA 8 (regardless of series), is eligible for this special.

I've got about 500 SGC graded '59 topps, avg grade about 86*. Any advice on whether I should fork over the triple grand to end up with what will (in all probability) be a PSA 7 set?

*stars avg. 'bout 84; commons about 86.

I don't think you would get anywhere near $3,000 worth of extra resale for NM common cards...but who knows.
