33 Goudey?

Can anyone tell me if this is a reprint or not? I have read most of the past threads concerning reprints and I'm still not sure.

Looking for 81-84 Topps Stickers in PSA 9 or better, 81 Topps Scratch offs, 83 Topps Fold outs in PSA 8 or better, 83 Fleer Stamps and 81/86 Fleer Star Stickers in PSA 9 or better.

  • I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's a reprint based on the bright white cardstock. We'll see if others agree.
  • I agree with underdog, especially the reverse. Way too bright.

PRO grading would probably even turn this one down!
  • Do u really think it's a reprint? Perhaps, the fact that it says reprint on the reverse might be a hint.
  • I must be dense but I sure don't see reprint on it anywhere. That's why I asked the question.

  • I won't be so sure about the white stocking being proof that it's a reprint. There are certainly examples of pretty white backs on these card. In my experience (1) print quality under magnification, (2) gloss, (3) focus, (4) stock thickness, and (5) card size (although Goudey's are known to vary) are the key indicators.

Typically these reprints have a glossy front when compared to high grade originals. Put this card next to a high grade original and magnify both x10 or x20 if you have a good eye piece. Between the results of this closer look and a comparison of stock thickness you should know if it's a reprint.

The best reprints I've ever seen (meaning close stock thickness and overall appearance) have always been somewhat out of focus and are somewhat discolored when comparing the same numbered card (original v. reprint).

The words "Renata Galasso" on the back would be a hint. They made reprints of many sets in the 70s-80s.

2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

It also appears that to the right of those words that text has been scratched out or something.
