Hi~~
I am totally brand new to coin collecting! I have bought some coins on eBay, and have just recently found this site from looking around.
I have a question for anyone: What is the going rate for a 1999 Georgia 25 cent piece with a MAJOR ERROR O/C and B/S?
Thank you for your response,
Bugs

BTW, this is not my area, or I would have answered your question.

The description is as follows:
This unusual error was created when a blank was positioned off center within the dies at the time it was minted. This resulted in a portion of the blank being unstruck and the design off center. Also, because the blank straddled the lower die and collar, the collar was unable to surround the blank resulting in the coin being plain-edged with no reeding. This piece is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and represents a major error.
How do you attach files? Let me know, and I'll send a picture of the coin.
Welcome to the boards. Without a picture and based on the description, I would say that it is an off centered broadstrike and might be worth $25.00 or so.
Do you have a link to the auction or sale page?

The description say "no reeding" which means it is a broadstrike, not a partial collar. Although, I must say that more than likely, it is a partial collar.
But, without a picture, you cannot say for certain.
It can be seen on eBay #3042426227 for sell by Ken Potter (koinpro). I have bid $3.80, with a max. of $11.07, so I guess I'm not out of the ballpark!
I would like to know how to add an attachment. I uploaded the file into the upload box and clicked attach file, but nothing happened. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I certainly do appreciate your interest!
Thanks,

The current bid is at $11.57. I would not personally go above $25.00. I have bought from Ken numerous times over the years. He is a fine seller. He claims no reeding on the coin which means it is broadstruck. Without actually holding the coin in my hand to examine all of the edge, I cannot tell for sure. But, I do know he has a return policy if you are not happy.
Good luck.
Richard.
PS---as for posting pictures, I am not the greatest at it. I have onbly done it a few times and it took me a dozen tries to do it each time. Try posting this question in the US Coin Forum. I know someone will be able to help you.
