WTB: Inexpensive US culls in bulk to hand out at Halloween....

I'm not looking for anything that currently circulates. I'd like things that kids would find interesting;...buffalo nickels, Merc dimes.....dateless, but identifiable is GREAT, not abused stuff please.

PM or email me at ronsrarecoin@aol.com.

Thanks very much in advance for any help.

Ron, you should consider some interesting and/or older Darkside stuff. Kids particularly like the odd-shaped coins. I sell a lot in my 35c bin at the mall (attributed, in 2X2's), because the kids often use them for school projects. Of course, I give many away, too.

One Halloween I gave out Wheaties in 2X2's. Most of the kids were like, "Umm, gee, great. A penny. Where's the candy?".

One kid, however, said, "WOW! Nineteen-Forty!" He then looked to see what the other kids had, and proceeded to swap candy for their coins. He was tickled when he got a 1927 Wheatie from some other kid for a measly candy bar. There's hope for the younger generation, yet. image

This was ten years ago, in '93. Long before Statehood quarters were thought of. Most of those kids would be college-age, now, I guess.

Wheaties, maybe a circ Merc or Buffalo, and a bunch of Darkside stuff would make a great mix. Put it all in a hat or somethin', where they can't see what they're grabbin', but let each kid grab two or three coins (unless you get five billion kids at your door). This gives it a "treasure hunt" aspect.

Oh, BTW, I forgot to add that I have an old Dansco folder with a mixed date set of Indian cents from the 1880's up, maybe 20 different dates or so, but every one of the coins is cleaned. If you're interested, I can check to see what exactly is in the folder. The coins ain't bad-lookin', just an unnatural color. I think the folder dates to the 1960's, and that's probably when the coins were polished up, so they've partially retoned. I figured on selling them for about 70-75c each.
