I posted about the Dihigo and Dandridge cards in this auction before, but I forgot to put a link to the highest graded example of the 1930 Baguer Chocolate Al Lopez card. This is his true ROOKIE card. Here's that link: 1930 Baguer Chocolate Al Lopez ROOKIE
I know there a lot of HOF registrants who have taken on the daunting task of trying to get rookie cards of every HOFer. None of them have this one in their registered set.

Also that is one ugly card/postage stamp...
Oh yeah, my wife loves to tell people that she was born in Cuba...except she was born at Guantanamo Bay(not excatly the streets of Havana), when her Dad was stationed there. It always get a chuckle when she tells people that she was born there....
Does it belong here? I say yes. It directly relates to some very tough cards in the HOF registry. Agreed about the stamp.
I do think the Dihigo and Dandridge cards are amazing though...
MartinDihigo,
Could provide some perspective on the availability/difficulty of Dihigo and Dandridge cards?
Thanks

Since some people on this forum do collect what I was posting about I thought I'd post it. I have no problem with it being deleted, though, if it's deemed inappropriate for the forum.
As far as the availability of Dandridge & Dihigo cards, all are scarce. Having said that, the two in the auction are the least difficult. Two or three times a year you can find either one on ebay.
I personally collect Dihigo cards and I would list them in the following order in terms of scarcity.
1. 1947 Mexican card - 1 known
1. 1950's Dominican card, red variation - 1 known
1. 1950's Dominican card, green variation - 1 known
4. 1944 La Campana premium - 2 known
5. 1946-47 Fotos postcard - 2 known (there are likely others)
6. 1946-47 Campo Alegre - 3 known (there are likely others)
7. 1946-47 Sensacion premium
8. 1946-47 Almanaque Deportivo
9. 1946-47 Propagandas Montiel
10. 1946-47 Caramelo Deportivo
11. 1945-46 Caramelo Deportivo
Keep in mind that the first 8 on the list are all but impossible. So there are really 3 Dihigo cards that are obtainable.

E-mail me if you're interested in further details. I always love to chat cards.

Really surprised anyone would accuse you of spam.
Especially with the amount of crap that passes through this board.
Your information is well researched and provides interesting insight.
Keep it up.

PS: Many people advertise cards for sale within this forum if it pertains
to registry sets and is an exception to what is commonly available. Yours qualifies.
Loves me some shiny!

Although I don't collect anything that you ever post about, I always enjoy reading the background behind it. I can honestly say (somewhat embarrassed ), that I would have never even known who Martin Dihigo was if it weren't for your infrequent posts. Thanks for the SPAM and keep it coming whenever you feel the need to do so! Even if the title of the thread sounds uninteresting, I will always read a thread that you have started. Hell, it beats a thread about '86 Topps every time, as far as I'm concerned.

Amen to that!
Or a thread about Barry Bonds
