what is the Name of the story?
FROZEN POND LOOTED DURING BLACKOUT
While most cities affected by last Thursday’s massive power outage did not experience much in the way of looting or vandalism, one prominent memorabilia dealer was not so lucky.
Hersh Borenstein, owner of Frozen Pond, a leading supplier of autographed hockey merchandise, reported that shortly after midnight on Friday, a truck backed up to the front of his store in Toronto and six white males jumped out and smashed the front door. Witnesses said the men appeared to be between the ages of 20-25.
Among the items stolen: Roberto Alomar’s 1992 World Series Trophy, a Paul Molitor vintage Blue Jays autographed jersey, autographed bats from Cal Ripken, Derek Jeter and Mike Schmidt, and a Joe Namath autographed Jets helmet. Also stolen was a large quantity of NHL pro and replica jerseys, many of which were “throwback” styles, and a number of Charlestown Chiefs and Team Canada jerseys.
“The police believe the driver was behind this, and he paid the other guys in merchandise for their participation,” Borenstein said. “We’re out about $60,000.”
Anyone with information about the merchandise is asked to call Borenstein at (800) 461-0965.

<< <i>why would roberto alomar sell his world series trophy? money? >>
Not sure if this is true for the World Series Champions today but backin 1992 and 1993 , Blue Jays players were allowed to purchase an additional 5 World Series trophies (each player was given one replica). The one The Frozen Pond has is not Alomar's personal trophy but one that was given to a friend who then in turn sold it. I believe the same trophy has changed hands a bunch of times over the years before it ended up in FP's hands.
Alomar still has his rings as well.
