Lincoln Registry Set......Finally All RED!! Kyle Patrick Collection

Finally!! My Lincoln Set (Basic Set 09 to 58) is 100% RED! I didn't know how long it would take to transition all of the RB coins to RD. It only took a few years of time......but much more $$ than I had expected. The market has been so hot.....that many of the coins I needed had doubled or even tripled over the last few years.

That's quite an accomplishment. It's a very tough set to complete in full red, and as much as I like Lincolns, I doubt that I'll ever try. Lincolns should prove to be a smart investment; the supply will only decrease with time, as coins are mishandled or irreparably damaged through improper storage.

Terrific accomplishment in a tough, long and (now) pricey series! Congrats! image
  • Great job, I tip my hat to completing the series. I've been on your heels for the last several months and I finally finished my set (R.S.Gore Collection) last week. Now I will need to follow in your footsteps and upgrade to Red so no more coppers from ANDY!!!!.

I think the most important lesson I have learned is to never play (or minimize) the upgrade game. It takes a ton of patience to find the right coin however I crumbled when it came to fill my last open spot a 23S. It's OK but a 63RB with some toning. It was like a festering sore which needed to be fixed so I just got it to join the 100% complete team. Now onto the reds

Again Congratulations for job well done!!

Congrats, I've been watching all your updates for a few months! I'm hoping for a 64red and better set some day too. BTW are you selling your old 1915 and 1925-s? 25-s is the only twenties s I need and would be happy with a well struck red/brown. I'd love to buy a full red one but I'd need a few months to save up! I'd like a red 23-s too, saw one on ebay but didn't have enough money at the moment. I love DPooles set too, but he needs a better struck 23-s and 25-d!

Anyway, once I save up a bunch more money to spend, maybe I'll send all you guys a message to ask if you have any nice duplicates for sale! Have a nice day!

Great job! Not too far from knocking off Mike Sadler either. So what's the next goal?

  • Thanks to everyone for the kind words.

Rella (Roger)- My goal now is to pay off those last few coins I purchased......and of course UPGRADES (ouch!!)

Haletj- Yes......I am selling the 1915 PCGS MS64RD and a 1925-S PCGS MS64RB. Send me a PM if interested......and I can get you pictures. The 25-S in nice for a 64RB. I purchased it at the Long Beach Show last year from "Eagle Eye Coins"......and it is well struck for the date.

I also have a 1920-S PCGS MS63RD available. It doesn't have the best strike......and that is what holds it back from a 64RD.....but it is RD.

Congrats - I too am trying to be patient and develop a nice set over time. A complete red set is a very nice accomplishment and should be enjoyed!

  • Stewart,

I'm going to hold off for now on the 23S and review the set to see what I need to upgrade first. I have a few other key/semi-key dates that I think I should upgrade first.
