-D MS65FBL – A superb specimen with pleasing light toning and a very bold strike as is the norm for these coins. Definitely well within the range of the grade, with no marks visible to the naked eye – This was formerly in my registry set, until I fell in love with the current specimen, which has crescent toning. Price: $900
-P MS65FBL – The obverse of this coin is about as clean as you’ll ever see on any Franklin. Blast white cartwheel luster and no marks whatsoever. The reverse has toned ever so lightly. Although on the picture it looks speckled, to the naked eye it looks like a mellowed grey tone. Undoubtedly an endroll coin. Excellent luster on the reverse as well – Price: $185
-D MS65FBL – This coin will take your breath away – not a mark visible to the naked eye, blast white as blast white can be. If I wasn’t so in love with the specimen I currently have in my collection, I would look to trade it for this one. This coin is gorgeous – no doubt about it! Price: $750
-D MS65FBL – Rick Tomaska says that 1951D’s in MS65FBL and blast white are some of the most underrated coins in this series. I agree with him – you don’t see coins this clean very often, and although I would call this one a champagne toned coin, because it has just a layer of mellowing over very very clean fields, the coin is definitely premium quality for those who want a specimen of this tougher date which is definitely a cut above the rest. Price: $400
-D MS65FBL – This 53D is typical for the strike – which means AWESOME. Unlike most of it’s brethren however, it’s got no visible contact marks to the naked eye, which is unusual for this date. It has a golden mellowing on both the obverse and reverse, which gives the coin very pleasing originality. Price - $250
-S MS65FBL – As with most of the “S” mints from the 50’s, this coin is weakly struck, you might even say a little mushy, but the bell lines are definitely there. The toning is OK, admittedly not the greatest. In addition, this coin, which resided in an album, has a fingerprint on the obverse. The fingerprint is very obvious on the picture, but you have to look for it on hand. Normally a well struck MS65FBL in this date would go for $300 easily. This one, for the reasons I’ve sighted above, will go well below that price, but it is still a very respectable coin. Price: $245
-D MS65FBL – WOW – It is bright white, it has no marks visible to the naked eye, it’s got luster galore, and it’s a tough find in this grade! If you’ve ever hunted through mint sets to find one of these, no doubt you were disappointed. This baby is NICE! Price: $575
-D MS65FBL – Although most 60’s Franklins have very weak bell lines, you can cut your finger on this one! Very well defined bell lines with a very good strike to match. Although the toning on the picture looks a bit splotchy, on hand this coin has a pleasing golden brown patina that in no way hides the very strong luster underneath. Definitely one that belongs in the better sets. Price: Sold to a set holder in the top 25!
If you have any questions on these coins or would like for me to take a more detailed picture please PM me. I have no doubt that wherever these coins wind up, they will be very welcomed additions to the best collections!
