Well, I did well to hold off for the few days I did--but since these will be submitted at WP show, I thought I'd crack a few at work. The results are:
Pack 1 (in numerical order): 4, 8, 13, 18, 19, 32, 46, 80, 81, 84, 99, 103 without the dot. Centering prevents 2 cards from grading 9--# 19 and sadly, 103. This was an exceptionally well centered pack and should grade high.
Pack 2: 1, 7, 17, 34, 40, 50, 52, 53, 71, 76, 97, 107. Centering prevents 5 cards from grading 9--#1, 40, 52, 76, 97. This pack was more typical--with 4-5 cards centered worse than 65/35. I will still submit card # 1 to get the 9 OC instead of the NM 7 (hopefully).
If anyone wants to know, I'll be breaking this final pack tonight at home and will share submission results when available.

P.S.--1954--Using a pair of large scissors, these graded packs opened much easier than at A.C.

maybe you could get Chris Porter to do the live commentary
maybe even put out a DVD.
hope you had a thrill and pull all nines tonight.
I've opened 6-1967 cello packs (all series I) over the years now and have always ended up with at least 1 PSA 9 (usually 2). Typically I see 3-4 cards end up with "7" centering with 1 worse than that. I will not jinx myself by thinking about what grades I should get on what I opened this morning, but these were certainly nicer than any 9 I have ever owned or seen.
These cards were made to be opened--break 'em out!

I have not typically looked for packs before but I must admit that I have scanned over the offerings on ebay lately, partly due to the excitement you have had and shared. Best of luck with the grades and can't wait to hear about your results!

I can only imagine the excitement of opening a fresh vintage pack. Good luck with the next one!!
It was explained to me a few years ago by someone that cello packs were made (in series) by having individulas cards slide onto a cello sheet randomly, then sealed and packaged. The closest thing I can think of to describe it is like an automatic shuffler (for you casino hounds)--cards come from 3, 4 or 6 different chutes (not sure, but all are possible with pack count of 12) and are timed to arrive on the cello so that they do not damage each other.
Anyway, take the GAI pack grading with a grain of salt. The grade is assigned to the SEAL, not the card. It does make me feel better about authenticity. For what it's worth, the two ungraded but sealed cellos I bought and opened yielded a Kaline, George Scott, and Drysdale--the packs certainly weren't tampered.

I am glad you had an easier time that what we did opening that thing up. That was a lot of fun and I hope you do even better than last time.

Eric,
Didn't get to see the cello get "busted" at the National. What a thrill it would be...
Good luck on tonights offering (I'll be there in spirit)

Must have been the scissors?

well it was fun , if I pull 2 9's I won't lose too bad. If I don't get them , it was fun anyway. makes me feel that I sold the 4 9's from my last submission too cheap. oh well. that's why it is collecting and not investing. I got my moneys worth in enjoyment.
Congrats on breaking it open--
