Poor sniping services!

I know this has been brought up about a million times already, but what's the point of having a sniping service watch auctions for you if they continually drop the ball? I lost out on a card I had been REALLY anxious in getting, but had a business dinner that conflicted with the end time. I wake up this morning only to find a mysterious "network error" is the reason Auctionstealer didn't place my bid. I'm averaging somewhere in the neighborhood of 80% success rate in placing my bids, which in my mind is completely unacceptable. What's worse is the pathetic "customer service" you get from these people!

Sorry for venting!

I use powersnipe and have never had a problem, I don't always win so maybe i should bid moreimage
  • Yeah, I tried powersnipe for awhile, but had problems with them as well. I guess I'll keep trying until I can find a service that is competent. Either that, or go back to the manual snipes!

I use both eSnipe and Justsnipe.com. My percent of Network Errors is running about 3% for eSnipe and 15% for Justsnipe (although I have many fewer bids through Justsnipe). Just missed 3 - 72 PSA 9's that closed at less than half of my snipe bids.

    Frank,

I have used Justsnipe for almost a year now. If you use the $5/month plan, place 2, 3, or more snipes for every auction. I haven't had Justsnipe miss one of my snipes since January (when I began using this multiple snipe method). image

For the record, I have placed a total of 1307 snipes using Justsnipe. If I remember correctly, I had a problem with 8 snipes in January. That's a 0.61% failure rate with no failed snipes in my last 1000 or so attempts.

Every time a post about failed snipes comes up, I post a similar response. I'm trying to help you guys, but you seem to continue using the services that fail in an unacceptable % of snipes. I'm sure another thread will start in a few days, a week, a month regarding this same topic. I'll post the same response again and most of you will ignore the advice once again. The reason I continue to post this info is for the benefit of any new members here, but most of these threads are started by regular posters who have been here long enough to read at least one of the 20 or so posts I've made about this.

I have no affiliation with Justsnipe - I just don't understand why anyone who bids on a lot of ebay auctions would not use this service.

If you don't want to take my advice, I would suggest doing a search of the internet for "snipe services" and research the available options for yourself. But don't keep using the same service and then post a new thread here every time it fails. This reminds me of the episode of Cheers where Norm repeatedly attempts to get peanuts (I think it was peanuts) out of a dispenser on the bar but gets shocked every time, yet continues to try. image
