A Guide to Variation Cards

I have alot of 1981 Fleer Baseball Vending and packs that I want to have graded, but do not have a listing of all of the variation cards. Since PSA asks for comments as to Variety, I would like to be knowledgeable on this. I've tried many sites and can't find the listing. I think that PSA lists about 10 variations, but have been told that there are up to around 100. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

    Dale,

There are tons of variations in this set (I didn't count them all). My best advice is to pick up a Beckett Baseball Card Price Guide. I have volume 23 at my side and check it frequently for questions such as this. The pricing is worthless, but the lists and commentary on each set are valuable tools - they do miss a few variations, though. Check ebay for a used copy.

See if you can get in touch will Mitochondria. I gave him a book on variations at the Chicago National. I dont remember the name of it off the top of my head but its a great book.

  • Well, I went to the library (duh!) and pulled the Sports Collectors Digest and the Beckett Price Guide and found what I needed. Compared the two guides and put them in a master list so that I can distinguish the variation cards.

    Thanks,

    Dale

    Hey Dale...

The Beckett Almanac 2003 edition just came out. It's like all the reference books in one. Cover states "More than 750,000 items priced" Don't buy it from Bec...Go to Amazon.com for a big discount.
