If I had the cash I would buy it, to me that is a priceless coin.
  • Actually it is listed as a 1937 PR67RDCAM Link - it almost looked like it was a "DCAM" instead of a "RD CAM". I rushed to check if there were any DCAM's in the pops before I realized my mistake. EVEN IF, WAY TOO MUCH!!!!!!! image MAYBE 2-3 times the price of a 67red IMHO. If I could sell the rest of my pop 1 proofs for half of that I'd be VERY happy! imageimage

This coin was just offered at auction and did not sell. In looking at the picture (I have not seen the coin in person), I don't really think it is "all there." I think it got up to the reserve of around $27K, with no takers.

This coin made my PR66CAM a pop 1/1. I would kind of like to see it sell for $33.5K image

Picture is up. Go figure it out. Indeed, it is much better than Heritage's photo. 1937DCAM

The Heritage photo does not look like a DCAM (or even CAM) to me. DHRC's picture looks better and at least the coin's reverse is DCAM, IMO.

Whoever wrote the discription misread the holder. It is RD CAM -- not a DCAM.

Here are the DHRC pics for comparison:

Anybody understand why I'm still on a rant about my 1936 still being stuck in an NGC 66CAM holder????

  • Did you try to cross it at PCGS yet? If so what minimum grade did you specify? Did they not think it was a 66 Cam or not a Cam? It looks much nicer than either of the other 2 from what you can tell from your pic.

    Roger:

I tried to cross it almost a year ago, so I specified a minimum of 66CAM, and they didn't cross it at that grade. So I don't know what they would have graded it. I haven't had the heart to send it in again, but I most likely will.

Look at the scuff across the cheekbone of the 37. Look how clean the portrait and fields are on my 36. Then compare the cameo frost on the devices. This is the fourth 36 I've owned in this grade, the others all being in PCGS holders. This one puts the others to shame.

I don't have access to scans of my 37 in 66CAM right now, but I'll put them up tonight so you can see it vs. the 67CAM for sale right now.

Might want to save your money on that Presidential review until the afore mentioned coin gets placed. image

Don, no doubt the coin you sold/traded me is a nicer coin.

Tonelover, you are so right!!!!! image

  • In pres. review (OR at the next "Ask The Expert" if you or someone you know is going to Lng Bch) DH WILL tell you the grade he thinks it is. This is a BIG prob. with CU. They were supposed to start telling you their opinion of the grade for coins that didn't cross but haven't started yet. I found that if you call them, they'll tell you the opinion from their notes though. Anyway, probably not worth downgrading 2 points OR losing the cam. Best would be to sell as is or re-submit a few times.

    Good Luck,

    Roger

    p.s. Know where I can find a 56 in 68CAM??? image

    Hi Doug

I have been after you to show me your 1936 Proof 66 cameo for some time now.I believe I can grade cameo proof Lincoln cents more accurately than David Hall.I have seen the 1937 Proof 67 cameo and have made a 1937 Proof 65 cameo in PCGS.I also own the 1938 and 1942 in Proof 67 cameo. And while we're at it let me see your 1937 in Proof 66 cameo.

Each and every date in the 1936 - 1942 has a different cameo look based on the contrast and when they were struck.

Stewart, very good points I have been collecting the 36-52 proofs off and on since the 60's and you are absolutely correct how different the dates look. BTW do you agree with the grade on the 37?. The two majors agree, which is unusual to begin with, but we here can all grade better than them.image
