eBay Items for Sale - Fundraiser for a Friend!

Hey there guys!

Sorry to post this on here since it's off-topic, but it's for a good cause. I have a good friend from college (Greg Brakel) who was very seriously injured in a skydiving accident a few months ago. As a result, he has a C-4 spinal injury which has put him in a wheelchair. To make matters worse, he has recently been let go by his employer, so he has no source of income. Needless to say, he needs as much financial assistance as possible. There are currently a set of items up on eBay that were donated in order to raise some money for his care. The seller ID on eBay is "gbfund". There are a variety of signed sports memoribilia, as well as some other event tickets and sports-related clothing. Please pass this along to anyone who might be interested. Thanks in advance for any of you who might bid on these items!

Scott, does a C -4 mean he's never going to walk again?I just saw the about me page and it looks like he's a quadrapalegic(sorry if I misspelled).

On a good note,it looks like all your items will be selling and the guy looks like he's in good sprits.

    Sorry to hear the news.
  • Well, there is still the possibility that he'll be able to walk again, but it'll be a LONG time before that happens (if it ever does). His injury isn't quite as bad as say what happened to Christopher Reeve, as I think Reeve's injury was a C-4 and C-6. My friend does have some movement in his hands and legs, but the doctors are not sure if he'll ever regain full mobility.

It was rather touch and go the 1st few days after his accident, since alot of the doctors wanted to pull the plug, since there wasn't alot of hope he was going to make it. Thankfully, one of the guys he was skydiving with was an EMT, as they had to perform CPR on him several times at the site after the accident.

He is in remarkably good spirits (I don't think I'd be holding up that well). The main thing we're worried about is being able to provide enough financial support for him. I'm actually not the one selling the items, but I thought I'd try to get the word out to as many people as possible in an effort to try to raise a few extra dollars.
